Dry Cupping
Decompress the tissue
Suction cups lift and separate the soft tissue rather than compressing it, drawing fresh blood into stubborn, congested areas. Excellent alongside deep tissue work for tight backs, shoulders and IT bands.

Benefits
- Releases stubborn fascia and trigger points
- Increases local circulation and tissue hydration
- Reduces DOMS after hard training blocks
- Pairs perfectly with a deep tissue session
What to expect
- A quick check of the areas that feel congested, stiff or restricted.
- Silicone or glass cups are placed and suction applied to lift the tissue.
- Cups stay static for a few minutes, or are glided over oiled skin for a broader release.
- Often combined with hands-on deep tissue work in the same appointment.
- Circular marks are normal and fade over 3–7 days — they are not bruises.
Safety notes & contraindications
- Avoided over varicose veins, broken skin, sunburn, recent scars and areas of thin or fragile skin.
- Not used if you are on blood thinners, have a bleeding disorder, or bruise very easily.
- Avoided during pregnancy over the abdomen and lower back.
- Tell me before we start if you have low blood pressure — you may feel briefly light-headed afterwards.
- Cups are single-client, cleaned and disinfected between every appointment.
Aftercare
- Keep the area warm and covered for the rest of the day.
- Hydrate well — tissue decompression shifts a lot of fluid.
- No sauna, hot tub, sunbed or intense heat for 24 hours.
- Avoid heavy training for 24 hours; gentle movement is encouraged.
- Marks fade on their own; do not scrub or massage them.
FAQs
- Are the marks bruises?
- No. They are stagnant blood and fluid drawn towards the surface, and they fade within a week without soreness.
- Can I have cupping on its own?
- Yes — a 30 minute standalone session. Most people prefer it added to a deep tissue massage.
- Does it hurt?
- It feels like a strong pull rather than pressure. Suction is adjustable and should always be comfortable.
